Sugar Creek Subdivision in Vernon Hills

The feel in the Sugar Creek subdivision n the Vernon Hills neighborhood is as sweet as the name indicates – beautiful homes located in a well-maintained enclave adjacent to a lushly forested area. Just three streets run through Sugar Creek, making it easy to navigate. With the numerous trips I’ve made throughout the Vernon Hills area it’s nice to have a neighborhood where my GPS isn’t necessary!

Keeping up with the latest listings in Vernon Hills and Long Grove keeps me moving, and keeps me in the loop about area activities. Another activity which will keep a lot of people moving is the October 15 Diamond Dash, a 5K race sponsored by the Diamond Lake Educational Foundation. Joshua Ackerman, President of the newly formed DLEF and a Vernon Hills resident, hopes the kick-off brings in serious runners as well as families and friends looking to exercise together for a good cause. Vernon Hills Schools- The Choice is yours

Hawthorn School District 73   ( the Vernon Hills Schools) have a program that is unique within Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs.

Akin to the Chicago Public School System, Hawthorn District 73 has multiple elementary schools in the district from which parents can choose for their children. Enrollment in these Vernon Hills  Schools is based on geography, availability and parent preference.
North Neighborhood families (those families living north of Townline Rd. in Vernon Hills) may indicate their school attendance preference from among the following schools: Elementary North, Aspen Elementary, Townline Elementary or the School of Dual Language.

South Neighborhood families (families living south of Townline Road in Vernon Hills) may indicate their school attendance preference from among the following schools: Elementary South, Aspen Elementary, Townline Elementary or the School of Dual Language. Vernon Hills Cougars Football Team Hopes to Continue Winning Streak this Saturday in the IHSA Quarterfinal Playoff Game!

After last weekend’s win over Tinley Park,  the IHSA playoffs continue for the Vernon Hills Cougars at home this Saturday at 1:00pm.  The Cougars will be playing the Kaneland Knights and if the Cougars continue their fantastic level of play I expect the winning streak will continue.

Tickets for the game are $6 and can be bought either in advance at the Vernon Hills High School athletic office or at the gate prior to gametime (gates will open at noon on game day).  As this is an IHSA event, not a Vernon Hills High School event, passes for the regular game season are not valid for these playoff games.

Take advantage of this great November weather, enjoy some quality family time and cheer on your local high school as they play their way to another win this Saturday!

The Vernon Hills Cougars Jumpstart the 2010 High School Football Season with a Bang!

Is there anything better than sitting with your friends and neighbors cheering on the local high school football team?  Not when that football team is the Vernon Hills Cougars and they shut-out Niles West in the first game of the season 45 – 0.  It was rumored at the start of the season that this years team was outstanding and they didn’t fail to deliver.  The Cougars scored on their first seven possessions and led  39-0 lead by halftime.  

If you are a fan of Friday Night Lights, or even a fan of marching bands and exuberant fans, make sure to check out the next Vernon Hills High School football game.  Next up on the roster is Chicago Raby High School visiting Vernon Hills on Friday, September 3rd.  Click here, for a complete listing of Vernon Hills Varsity Football games.  And don’t forget, there are some great games being played by the Vernon Hills freshman football team and Vernon Hills sophomore footbal team as well.  You can find their schedule on the Vernon Hills High School website.

 Vernon Hills Schools- Which one is right for you?
